Internship program
At EMC, we consider internship as a key opportunity to get mentored on real life projects and to get exposed to some of the frontier areas in environmental management and sustainability.
The period of internship is for a minimum period of 2 months and a maximum of 6 months and runs throughout the year. Interns have the choice to work full time at EMC’s offices in Mumbai, Ahmedabad or Delhi (to commence by December) or opt for a virtual or an ‘e-internship’. The ‘e-internship’ is open to both Indian and international students.
The interns are expected to get involved in some of the ongoing projects at EMC and conduct research on new/emerging topics. We do suggest topics but we are open to propositions made by the interns.
Intern’s work is guided by a mentor at EMC. Intern is expected to make presentations during the course of the internship and report the progress. We encourage our interns to produce a publication or contribute to a knowledge product at the end of the internship. This helps them to building their careers.
Typically, internship at EMC is sought by undergraduate or postgraduate students to meet their academic requirements. However, some students do want to avail internship before undertaking higher studies to get a better focus for research. There are also applicants who want to intern with us before returning to India to understand the opportunities and make connections.
Every year, we typically receive more than 200 internship applications across the world. Generally, we admit around 10 interns so internship at EMC is competitive and really sought for.
On successful completion of the internship, we offer a position of Research Assistant to the deserving intern so as to continue working with us and subsequently make a career at EMC. We stay connected with our interns through a What’s app group. We do significantly invest in our time in mentoring and consider our internship program as our social responsibility. Interns are of course our brand ambassadors.
How to enroll:
Getting an internship at EMC is very competitive. At EMC 200+ applications are received each year. Interested interns have to submit their CV citing two references through the online portal. Once the CV is shortlisted, interns are asked to submit a Statement of Purpose and a recently written output. An interview is conducted in the final round.
Stipend:
For interns who work from EMC office in Mumbai, we offer a modest stipend depending on qualifications and experience of the intern. The stipend provided to the intern is a token of our appreciation. It does not imply any honorarium or salary. We do not provide accommodation facility to the intern during the internship period. For the ‘e-internship’, there will be no stipend provided.
