Preparation of Knowledge Sharing Facility on Environment (KFE) between India and Sweden

Project Description

To facilitate broader co-operation between India and Sweden in Environment, Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) proposed to set up an Indo-Swedish Knowledge Facility on Environment.  This project was envisioned to identify areas of cooperation between India and Sweden on good  environmental practices through knowledge sharing. To prepare this facility, visits were made to Sweden and several bilateral meetings were held with prominent research institutions, academia, government bodies and the private sector. Similarly, market studies were carried out in India to identify knowledge gaps and opportunities to arrive at focus areas of the KFE. Areas such as sustainable cities, sustainable transport, and sustainable supply chains were identified to develop partnerships. A fund was then created of 5 million dollars by the Swedish Government for the collaborative activities between India and Sweden.

After this Embassy of Sweden engaged EMC to develop a plan of collaboration on Clean Tech, water and energy conservation in hospitality industry focusing on the States of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Goa.
