Our Former EMCians
I have always been someone who has looked up to exciting work, and the bandwidth to deliver more than promised. EMC had been the perfect catalyst for my growth as a professional in the domain. My journey in EMC started with the sheer desire to work with a stalwart like Dr Modak, but in the process, I was able to connect with many colleagues, peers and clients of great repute and work ethics. EMC has always been a tight knit group of highly motivated people who are like family. I learnt the importance of forming and nurturing long term partnerships by being innovative and delivering above the expected. I also got the opportunity to unleash the "teacher" in me by being a trainer with Ekonnect. I got the opportunity to be a part of the team responsible for carbon and climate related projects at EMC. My participation in ISO 14064 helped me being abreast with the domain and develop my skills to handle those projects. I'll always cherish my time at the EMC as the most formative years for me as a professional and as a human being.

It's been a huge privilege working with EMC for the last 7 years. EMC is a great place to grow and develop professionally and personally. It has been a great facilitator towards offering new opportunities of learning and strengthening my skill sets. I am thankful to Dr. Modak for providing me an exceptional opportunity to visit Purdue University, USA for research work. EMC equipped me with the best-in-class mentors. I find myself amongst a great group of colleagues who work together as a team in a spirit of mutual benefit. The best part about EMC is the open and informal work culture, which makes employee feels at home. I cherish my association with EMC and wish EMC all the best for the future.

EMC is a great place to work. The culture is transparent and every employee, irrespective of their position, is given a chance to be heard. There are diverse opportunities available for those who want to build a career here. Employees are given ample of training and guidance which helps them learn, adapt, and deliver quality assignments. I have been a part of EMC for more than 5 years now and have seen myself transform as a professional in more than one way. Its innovative and entrepreneurial approach distinguishes it from its competitors.

I have been a part of EMC for over 6 years as an employee, an independent consultant and now again as an associate. EMC has nurtured my varying professional interests and helped carve out my space in the environment, health, safety, and biodiversity domains. The warm, friendly, and encouraging office culture makes it a very rewarding workplace.

I worked with EMC from May 2004 – to February 2007 at the Prabhat Road, Pune office. I cherish the most are sessions with Dr. Modak (one to one and with the team). In EMC I worked on many interesting projects, like EMS gap assessments for industries, due diligence in the M&A and training programs. I was also part of the first event, 'A walk in the park' at the Kamla Nehru Garden. I went to Vietnam on UNEP- DTIE- IETC Mission as a technical consultant to design Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) system and wastewater reuse for a sugar industry. I played an active role in the Technology Assessment – SAT (Sustainability Assessment of Technology) for four treatment technology sectors and the development of a Strategic Plan for Pollution Control Boards (PCBs) in India.
Dr. Modak is a unique combination of an industry expert, scholar, and a most sought-after person by Multilateral institutions like World Bank, ADB, UNIDO, etc. His assessment reports are most valuable by all institutions, and he created a niche position for himself as an Indian since the 1990s, which is an all-time difficult task for any individual. My best wishes to all in the EMC family.

In many ways, EMC has laid the foundation of the professional work that I do today.
I had worked under the guidance of Dr. Prasad Modak, way back in 1993-94 in CESE, IIT Mumbai. But it was only later in 1999 when I joined EMC, a consulting company he founded, that my professional career in the field of environment commenced in the real sense. It was truly a privilege to have worked in EMC for 16 long years and being involved, not only in many of its projects but also in administration, business development and team management.
EMC’s USP lies in helping its clients develop a solid project concept, scope, and a rational approach to achieve their objectives in the best possible manner. Its mission statement, "Practicing Sustainability to the advantage of all’, continues to be truly followed in all respects. Supported by its not-for-profit partner, Ekonnect Foundation, EMC’s contributions have been invaluable in bringing about a meaningful change in environmental management over the years.
EMC introduces a great teamwork culture that is built on mutual strengths and helps create a bond and trust among everyone while promoting a healthy competition to achieve excellence. I still remember the enriching brainstorming sessions we used to have on several topics within as well as outside the environmental field (often late in the evenings). Perhaps this is the reason, why EMC has a strong alumni group that continues to connect us, even today, after many of us have gone our own ways.
My very best wishes to EMC and Dr. Modak, for a lovely future ahead with great projects, accolades, and a valuable contribution in achieving Circular Economy.

EMC was my first workplace as an Environmental Planner. Under the able guidance of Dr Prasad Modak and other senior EMC colleagues, I was able to shape my career in the right direction. EMC helped me understand the ethics of environmental consulting. Dr Modak taught me the value of working in collaboration with experts, a much-needed skill for an environmental consultant, our sector being so multi-disciplinary. I greatly value the experience and the networks that I developed while working within EMC, they have helped me immensely in all my endeavors till date.
Because of this and EMC’s ‘being always connected’ culture, even today, I feel like I am a part of EMC’s extended pool of resources, where we can always depend on each other to provide excellent services in the field of Environment.

I joined EMC in 2005, precisely, on 18th August 2005, immediately after completing master’s in environmental planning. I worked for 5 years. It's been 11 years now I left the organization, but the memories are so fresh as if I was working still yesterday.
5 years in EMC was double rewarding. It was like learning from Dr Modak and was getting paid at the same time.
I worked on many projects in 5 years, and every project was uniquely different. Most memorable projects I worked upon were strategic action plans for state pollution control boards of Maharashtra and Uttarakhand, developing web-GIS based applications for 2 highway projects, to track and maintain their daily progress, Analysis of alternatives for expansion of highway passing through Kaziranga National Park and many more actually.
When I joined, I was a fresher, and now when I look back, I realize, how row I was. but I was very lucky, to have direct interactions and discussions with Dr Modak. It always surprised me how meticulously he used to review our outputs, I remember, my first solo-report was finalized after approximately 21 drafts.
Other than work, the life in EMC was so exciting. Some of the interesting responsibilities I had were, keeping the pantry stock 'upto date', was involved in interior designing of office space at Hanuman industrial estate and later in royal industrial estate. For me, working at EMC was like 'dream come true' job.

EMC is a great place to unlearn, learn, find your mojo, and have fun. I am thankful to have been a part of EMC and many fascinating projects that helped shape my career. It couldn't have been any other time, any other place. Thanks.
