Gujarat Department of Forests and Environment contracted EMC to prepare a Project Implementation Plan (PIP) on Industrial Pollution Control
for seeking assistance from Ministry of Environment and Forests. EMC
used tools of strategic planning and participatory approach to develop
this PIP. Accordingly, a plan of US$2 million was developed, approved
and implemented
The Kottayam-Kumarakom region was taken up by the Government of Kerala
in partnership with Ministry of Environment and Forests and Ecosmart
India Ltd of IL&FS as a pilot to develop and test the Ecocity
concept. EMC developed an operational framework based on the principles of Urban Environmental Management System (EMS) and assisted Ecosmart India Ltd and IL&FS to establish the Ecocity Programme.
EMC developed an action plan for practicing sustainability
for a multinational company considering options such as roof rainwater
harvesting, sewage recycling, solar water heating, optimization of
illumination systems etc. Based on the action plan, the company
contracted EMC as a Project Management Consultant to implement roof
rainwater harvesting and sewage recycling systems.
Dr Prasad Modak and team at EMC was contracted by the Asian Development Bank to prepare Strategic Action Plans for the Pollution Control Boards
of Maharashtra and Uttaranchal. These Strategic Action Plans were
developed through extensive workshops, research and analyses and using
technology platforms such as the Geographical Information System (GIS).
A Guidance Manual was developed on this experience to assist other
State Pollution Control Boards.
Dr Prasad Modak was contracted by the World Bank to conduct Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA)
for the Palar River Basin in the State of Tamil Nadu in India. As a
part of the SEA, a 2 day action planning workshop was conducted where
around 30 key stakeholders participated. The action plan developed on
the lines of Vision to Action was put forth to the Palar River Basin Management Board for consideration. Team at EMC supported this activity.
