Highlights of some of the projects completed


The World Bank commissioned EMC to prepare a Sectoral Environmental Assessment (SEA) on behalf of the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India on strengthening Hazardous Waste Management. The project had an outlay of 330 million US$. The SEA included public information and consultations at five locations in India soliciting comments from more than 500 stakeholders.

A multi-national petrochemical complex asked EMC to apply air quality model to assess relative influence of its air emissions against emissions emanating from a nearby transport corridor. Industrial Source Complex (ISC) model along with CALINE-3 was used.

EMC was contracted by Wilber Smith Associates to provide advise and oversight for conducting a Rapid EA for the proposed industrial estate at Cuddalore, South India for textile processing industries. The assignment included preparation of a comprehensive Environmental Management Plan that included an ocean outfall and related mathematical modeling based on CORMIX.

A consortium of Mahindra Acres Consulting Engineers and Mott McDonald contracted EMC to assist in the EA of the Master Plan of the proposed Bombay Sewage Disposal Project. The work involved review of baseline studies, identification of environmental and social impacts and development of impact matrix for analyses of alternatives and a review of the draft EIA report.

EMC advised Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT), Ahmedabad in the preparation of Rapid EIA of Sabarmati River Front Development project. The assignment included review of EIA report prepared by CEPT, field visits to assess baseline situation, impact identification and evaluation using matrix / network methods, provide recommendations and suggestions on improving effectiveness of EA.

Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL&FS) commissioned EMC to prepare a Rapid Integrated Environmental and Social Assessment of Major Bridge across Patalganga River on NH 17 in Maharashtra. The EA included application of CALINE-4 vehicular air emission model.
