Environmental Planning and Assessment forms one of the core areas of expertise of EMC. EMC has conducted various forms of Environmental Assessments (EAs) such as strategic, sectoral, regional and programmatic. In conducting these EAs, scoping, consultation and analysis of alternatives have often been the key milestones. Invariably, these EAs have been concurrently performed and have led to improved project effectiveness with useful planning and policy related recommendations.

EMC believes in mainstreaming environmental and social considerations and makes every effort to integrate environmental management plans in the project concept, design and operation. EMC uses modelling, monitoring and information based tools such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) where appropriate to improve on the quality of EA. Team members at EMC are well exposed in these areas.
