The Eco-City program for Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad, an initiative by Shri. Jayant Patil, Hon. Cabinet Minister of Rural Development, Government of Maharashtra is a first of its kind in the state of Maharashtra. EMC has been chosen to prepare an action plan with detailed project and activities aimed at transforming Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad (SMK) into a sustainable city of the future! An Eco-City is a city where Economic, Environmental and Social (Triple Bottom Line) interests are recognized, balanced and integrated in the city governance. The program is also a process that will be sustained through partnerships and capacity building. Learn more about this program at www.ecocity.net and look for detailed information and special features such as the bespoke interactive platform for SMK citizens called Ekovoices. Register to voice your concerns using Ekovoices, a unique mapping tool where users can report location specific issues and initiatives. Postings on the map of SMK city are fed into discussion groups formed by a network of likeminded people. Emails to responsible individuals, experts and administrators are triggered to initiate the appropriate action. |
