Maharashtra Pollution Control Board has instituted the “Vasundhara Awards 2010” to recognize exemplary work carried out by Industries, Urban Local Bodies, Schools and Environmental Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) towards protection of environment in the State of Maharashtra.

The award consists of a trophy, citation and cash prize to be presented at a formal ceremony publicly acknowledging the work of the recipients

 - For Industry and Urban Local Bodies categories the winners will be announced on Earth Day, 22nd April 2010 and award will be given on MPCB’s Foundation Day, 7th September 2010.

 - Schools and Environmental NGOs categories the awards will be given on MPCB’s Foundation Day, 7th September 2010.

MPCB will announce the invitation of applications for the “Vasundhara Award” from Schools and NGOs on May1, 2010. Application forms and a guidebook to the awards citing eligibility and other information are available for download on the MPCB website : http://mpcb.gov.in .

Last date for submission of application for the Industry and Urban Local Bodies category is the 28th of February 2010. MPCB has constituted a committee for evaluation of the applications. Criteria for evaluation can be found in the guidebook; MPCB has appointed Environmental Management Centre to assist with the management of the awards process.
