They received a credit from an international consortium led by an Equator Principle Financial Institution. EMC was engaged as Independent Reviewer to evaluate conformance with Equator Principles. EMC was also engaged for conducting annual monitoring of the project.

The project involved conducting Environment, Health & Safety and Social (EHS&S) due diligence focusing on compliance with (a) relevant national EHS regulations (b) Equator Principles, (c) IFC Performance Standards, (d) IFC EHS guidelines for Thermal Power Plants.

The periodic monitoring audits involved review of EHS legal compliance at the document level and implementation of conditions stipulated in the clearance/ consent/ license.

The conformance assessment and periodic monitoring was based on site visit, documents review and interview with key personnel.

Deviation from standards (if any) were identified, discussed and potential corrective measures were identified in the form of action plans. EMC has conducted the conformance assessment in 2012, and followed up with annual reviews in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
