Remote Sensing & GIS

EMC has a skilled team on application of tools such as Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing. EMC has successfully applied these technologies for data capture (Geodatabases), regional assessments (e.g. in EIA, biomass estimations), analyses of alternatives (e.g. for road alignments), monitoring and evaluation (e.g. for resettlement action plans) etc. Web based application of these technologies have been made for tracking construction, maintenance and associated Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) of road infrastructure projects. Change detection techniques are also used to assess medium and long term impacts. Innovative applications have also been developed using GoogleMaps for the purposes of project screening. Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) used EMC's expertise to conduct preliminary environmental and social assessment of proposed small dams in Kabul, Afghanistan
